    When the Dead Kennedys came to SLO, and a punk rock riot ensued

Lead singer and songwriter Jello Biafra (born Eric Boucher) took his stage name from the ironic juxtaposition of a processed dessert that requires clean water, and the short-lived African nation undergoing famine and a shortage of clean water. Shock value, dark irony, freedom of expression and social justice were recurring themes with the band.     40 Years Ago: MISFITS live On Broadway, San Francisco

    MISFITS played live at On Broadway, San Francisco on this day in 1981. It was the first of three late-November west coast gigs. Two of the songs – “All Hell Breaks Loose” and “We are 138″ – were included on the original Evilive 7″ (December 1982) and 12” (1983) EPs.
